Since 1989, Bergin has operated as an artisanal etching and painting studio in Napa Valley, with many of our artists still part of the team today. Each glass bottle is custom etched and hand-painted, with production ranging from a single bottle to 10,000 units across sizes from 375 ml to 27 L. Our cold-process glass etching allows us to work on filled bottles, making custom engraved wine bottles ideal for tasting rooms, wine clubs, promotions, auctions, and private collectors.

Custom artwork recreation

We’ll take your label inspiration, be it your paper label designs, a cherished photo, or a piece of original art, and completely translate it to an etched format from scratch. We fondly refer to our etching artists as “the best art forgers in the business,” as each engraved bottle is a one-of-a-kind work of art with slight variations across each bottle.

Our etching process

You’ll work with a dedicated Account Manager and Production Artist who guide your glass bottle etching project from start to finish, typically around four months depending on quantity. Bergin manages all logistics, ensuring bottles - filled or unfilled - arrive on time for production. Throughout the process, each engraved bottle is carefully inspected at every stage to ensure the highest quality standards.

From sampling and mask creation to precision etching deep into the glass, each piece is finished with paint by hand. The result is high-quality engraved wine and liquor bottles with lasting impact.

When working on full bottles, we never expose them to temperatures higher than 66°F, making this method perfect for finishing large-format shiners with intention. Annual Artist Series: Bottle Etching with Purpose

Our friends at Amuse Bouche commission artists from all over the world to design and create their wine labels, each vintage becomes a collectible. We then etch the artwork onto bottles, turning it into what we call “bottle art.” It’s a true example of custom etched wine bottle craftsmanship.
